Petra is the jewel of Jordan and one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites in the world. Established as early as the 6th century BC by the Nabataeans, Petra became a vital hub of trade, linking Arabia, Egypt, and the Mediterranean.
Its prosperity allowed for the construction of monumental tombs, temples, and a sophisticated water system in the heart of
the desert. Rediscovered in 1812 by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt, Petra has since enchanted travelers with its pink sandstone facades. The Treasury, carved into rock cliffs, is just the beginning — Petra stretches over 60 square kilometers, filled with caves, Roman theaters, Byzantine churches, and desert trails that whisper ancient stories.
