Ajloun is Jordan’s emerald escape, blessed with fertile valleys and pine-clad hills. Its crown jewel, Ajloun Castle (Qal’at Ar-Rabad), was built in 1184 by Saladin’s generals to defend against Crusaders and to protect vital trade routes.

Beyond its military past, Ajloun has been a cradle of agriculture for centuries, producing olives, figs, and grapes. Today, Ajloun is home to protected nature reserves, where eco-tourism flourishes. It offers a glimpse into rural Jordanian life, where local communities still practice traditional crafts, such as soap-making and weaving, passed down for generations.
